The goal of the project

What are we striving for?

Hydrogel materials

The main goal of this project is to obtain bio-hybrid hydrogel materials incorporated with the nanocarrier-drug system as an innovative way of treating Psoriasis. Additionally, the intermediate objective of the research are studies on the profile and kinetics of the release of selected active substances both from the nanocarrier and from the hydrogel matrix, which is a dual drug delivery system.

What do we want to achieve?

The final result

The final effect of the planned project is the development of a composition of bio-hybrid hydrogel materials incorporated with the nanocarrier-drug system as an innovative treatment for Psoriasis. The use of such a solution will on one hand provide protection against mechanical injuries and suitable hydration of the skin in the area covered by Psoriasis. Additionally, a dual release system will allow for the gradual delivery of the active substance. Thanks to that, the therapeutic effect will be extended and the costs of treatment will be reduced.

Obtained positive results, especially in the field of cytotoxicity and on cell lines will enable the selection of a prototype and further work on the commercialization of bio-hybrid hydrogel materials that are unavailable on the market.

The research work began as scheduled in January 2019. The first stage concerns the development of the method of hydrogel matrices preparation and further their characteristics. In the next steps, the research will focus on obtaining the nanocarrier-drug system (NanoLek), and then on its incorporation into the polymer matrix (NanoLekGel). In the final result it will lead to the selection of bio-hybrid hydrogel materials prototype.
